Goat Haven — A Caring Home for Rescued Goats

Goat Haven is a safe and caring home for goats who need stability, support, and a place to belong. Our intention is to provide lifelong care whenever possible, while always making decisions based on each goat's wellbeing and the resources available to us.

Goat Haven is supported by the work of Goats in the City and by people who choose to help with the cost of caring for goats who need a safe place to land. Support helps with feed, veterinary care, transportation, fencing, shelter and the everyday cost of giving these animals stability.

Our Commitment

Why Goat Haven Exists

Last fall, we welcomed 14 goats into our care from another refuge. They had been living in and around a converted school bus, and bringing them home meant much more than simply giving them a new place to stay.

It meant giving them space to settle in, proper shelter, good nutrition, veterinary attention and the stability of a herd they could call home.

As we got to know each goat, we also learned that some needed more care than we first realized. Health concerns are not always visible when an animal arrives, and one member of the group later became seriously ill. Despite receiving veterinary care, we sadly lost her.

That experience reinforced why Goat Haven exists. Taking responsibility for a goat means making a commitment that can last for years. It means being there for the everyday needs—feed, shelter, fencing and pasture—as well as transportation, veterinary treatment and the unexpected challenges that can come with caring for an animal.

Some medical conditions only become apparent after a goat comes into our care. Veterinary assessment and treatment are an important part of providing responsible refuge.

When a goat comes into our care, that responsibility becomes ours. Your support helps us continue making that commitment.
